KVM VPS OS Installation

Back

KVM VPS plans don't have an OS installed by default. You can install an OS on your KVM VPS service by using one of the following methods listed below:
Method 1 - Install a Pre-made OS Template
Login to our VPS control panel using the login details in the VPS setup e-mail.
Navigate to Service->Manage->Re-install. Select the OS of your choice and click re-install.
Your new root password will be displayed once OS installation has been initialized.
Please allow few minutes for the OS installation to be completed. You can monitor the OS installation via VNC.
Please see network cards information below and choose one accordingly.

Method 2: Install an ISO
Login to our VPS control panel using the login details in the VPS setup e-mail.
Navigate to Service->Manage. Under CDROM, mount the ISO of your choice. Make sure CDROM is before Hard Disk under Settings->Boot Order.
Reboot the VPS from the General tab.
Click on VNC to load VNC and start the OS installation.
Unmount the ISO and reset the boot order once OS installation has been completed.
Please see network cards information below and choose one accordingly.

Network Cards
Realtek
Please do not use the Realtek network card. It has a 100 Mbps port speed limit that cannot be removed. Please use the Intel PRO/1000 or Virtio network cards for 1 Gbps connectivity.

Intel PRO/1000
If you are using Windows based operating system, you will need to use this network card. We also recommend using this card for FreeBSD as well.

Virtio
We recommend using Virtio network card for most operating systems other than Windows and FreeBSD.
